Firefly Expansion Reinforces Cedar Park as a National Space Hub

Scott Smith 04.22.2026

Cedar Park is continuing to solidify its position as a leading hub for space innovation, as Firefly Aerospace expands into a 144,000 square foot headquarters operation in the city, marking another major milestone in both the company’s growth and the region’s emergence as a national aerospace center.

Executives from the end-to-end space company (Nasdaq: FLY) confirmed the company has moved into its 44,000 square foot headquarters at 2203 Scottsdale Drive.  Firefly also has a 45,000 square foot facility at 5900 183A known as “The Hive” in addition to a newly added 55,000 square foot space at 1500 Volta Drive.

The expansion reflects Firefly’s accelerating trajectory following a series of high-profile achievements, including successful lunar missions and an expanding portfolio of national defense and commercial contracts. As the company scales its operations, its decision to deepen its footprint in Cedar Park sends a clear signal to the market: Central Texas is not just participating in the space economy, it is helping define its future.

For Cedar Park economic development leaders, the move reinforces a broader strategy to cultivate a purpose-built ecosystem for space and defense companies. Central to that vision is the Central Texas Spaceport Development Corporation, a regional initiative led by Cedar Park in partnership with Williamson County. The effort is designed to align infrastructure investment, workforce development, and public-private collaboration to support next-generation aerospace companies.

Firefly’s continued investment underscores the strength of that approach. The company’s growth, spanning facilities, workforce, and capital deployment, demonstrates Cedar Park’s ability to support companies through every phase of expansion, from early-stage innovation to global operations. For prospective employers, it offers a real-world case study in how quickly companies can scale within the city’s business-friendly environment.

The implications extend beyond a single company. Firefly’s presence is helping anchor a broader Central Texas corridor that spans aerospace, defense, semiconductors, and advanced manufacturing. With proximity to research institutions, a deep and growing talent pipeline, and access to state-level incentive programs, Cedar Park is increasingly positioned as a front door to Texas’ expanding space economy.

As momentum builds, local officials see Firefly’s headquarters expansion as more than a real estate transaction, it is a validation point. It signals to innovative space companies evaluating future locations that Cedar Park offers not only strategic advantages, but a proven environment where industry leaders can thrive.

In a rapidly evolving global space race, Cedar Park is making its case clearly: the infrastructure is in place, the partnerships are aligned, and the next generation of space innovation has a place to land.
