Samsung supplier expects to move into [Cedar Park] facility by end of year

After 15 years in the city of Austin, a South Korean supplier to Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is chugging along on the construction of its new U.S. headquarters in Cedar Park, with plans to move in by the end of the year.

Hanyang Eng USA Inc., a subsidiary of Hanyang ENG Co. Ltd., last year won approval from the Cedar Park City Council for up to $705,000 in incentives to move into Building 6 at the Scottsdale Crossing Technology Center at 1635 Scottsdale Road, where it plans to employ at least 50 people by the end of 2025. Jee Seon Kim, Hanyang Eng USA senior marketing manager, said the new facility will allow the company to ramp up production while meeting customers’ increased demands and reducing lead times and costs.

The four-decade-old company has about 1,100 employees worldwide, with locations in South Korea, China, Vietnam and Singapore. The company currently helps Samsung with its central chemical supply system and equipment hook-up projects.

“When urgent modifications are requested, they can be quickly produced at the Cedar Park facility, allowing us to respond promptly to our customers’ needs regardless of their field situation,” Kim stated in an email. “Ultimately, we plan to expand our operations to supply chemical systems and ultra-high-grade piping materials essential for semiconductor and display manufacturing, as well as other industries nationwide.”

Under the approved incentives agreement, the company was set to receive $250,000 if it purchased the building at 1631 Scottsdale Crossing by Dec. 31, 2023; $100,000 if it employs no less than 25 employees with an average salary of $90,000 a year by Dec. 31, 2024; $100,000 for employing a total of 50 employees, with an average salary of $90,000, by Dec. 31, 2025; $10,000, or up to $250,000, for every employee who buys a home in Cedar Park; and a $5,000 membership to the Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce, according to city documents.

Kim declined to provide a cost estimate for the Cedar Park project.

Hanyang is one of many suppliers to Samsung known to be expanding in the area. Others include Wonik Materials North America LLC in Manor; Soulbrain Holdings Co. Ltd., HTNS America Inc. and ENC Inc. in Taylor; iMarket America Inc. in both Taylor and Round Rock; MSS International and KoMiCo Technology Inc. in Round Rock; Fine Semitech Corp. in Hutto; EcoMicron Inc. in Cedar Park; LS Electric Co. Ltd. in Bastrop; and MGC Pure Chemicals America Inc. in Killeen…

“It’s great to see this area becoming a hub for many international companies, especially those related to the semiconductor business. (Hanyang) hopes to meet these companies, share our experiences, and create more together,” Kim said.
